BROOME COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The generosity of our membership helps the Society engage in these areas:

• PROGRAMS

The Historical Society holds nine regular programs each year, all free and open to the public.

​

• PUBLICATIONS

Two issues of a newsletter, the Broome County History Bulletin, are published each year. Several major publications have been produced and are available for purchase.

​

• COLLECTIONS

The Society maintains a collection of over 200,000 items covering our area from pre-history to the present.  All items in the collection are preserved consistent with current museum and archival standards.

​

• LIBRARY

The BCHS is a major participant in the Local History & Genealogy Center in the Broome County Public Library.  A collection of books, manuscripts, photographic images, newspaper clippings, obituaries and an index of names are maintained in the Local History & Genealogy Center.

• RESEARCH

We provide a research service using only materials located in the Local History & Genealogy Center.

The cost for research is $10.00/hour, plus the cost of copies (.25).

All monies must be paid before the research can be started.
